This property, located within the City of Fort Myers on the north bank of Billy’s Creek canal directly east of Billy Bow Legs Park, is rather unique when compared to the other Conservation 20/20 properties. The land was acquired through funding from the Conservation 20/20 program, but the South Florida Water Management District provided $808,000 in grant funding towards the construction of a filter marsh to improve water quality downstream. Finally, the City of Fort Myers provided the remainder of the funding and now oversees the daily operations of the facility.
